Route internet through WiFi, while wired to a another LAN - on Windows

Assume we have both LAN and WiFi connecting to our computer. But we only want the Internet route through WiFi or LAN. We can do it actively.

For example, you connect LAN to another local network to control some devices, but at the same time, you also connect your laptop to WiFi. The problem is that all your internet will be routed through the LAN connection by default. If your LAN connection doesn't have internet so, every time you want to search for something on Google or just want to watch some Japanese romantic film while you're working 😏😏, you have to disconnect your LAN, and when you want to control your devices, you have to connect LAN again and lose your internet as well.

Below is the simple way to help you get both in blue😌

HOW TO DO THAT

Just follow step by step:

  1. Open Network and Sharing Centre ("Network Status" Win10).
  2. Go to "Change Adapter Settings" ("Change adapter options" Win10)
  3. Go to properties of Local Area Network.
  4. Click on Internet Protocol version 4 and go to its properties.
  5. Click on Advanced
  6. You will see a block checked there by the name of "Automatic Metric".
  7. Uncheck it and then enter 2 in that section.
  8. Now, Do the same for the wireless network, but enter 1 for "Automatic Metric".

Save the setting, and voila—you'll be able to use WiFi even when your ethernet cable is connected to the LAN.

You can route the internet to any Network adapter just by changing its "Automatic Metric" to 1.

Happy day, bros.
